“All I have is this red guitar
Three chords and the truth.
All I have is this red guitar.
The rest is up to you.”

Bono added this verse to Bob Dylan’s song “All Along The Watchtower.”

The story goes that he forgot the words during a live performance (not an uncommon occurrence for any musician) and added this verse in place of the forgotten words.  Sometimes our mistakes are marvelous.

I’m a guitar player; not a great one; just a love of mine.  I’ve picked it up when I was 12.  That was almost 50 years ago.  So I appreciate the fact that you can play almost any pop, folk or country song using just three chords.  Life is good if you are a guitarist.

I’m also a thinker; again, not a great one; just a love of mine.  I’m not sure when I picked that up, but my entire family is that way. Family gatherings aren’t always pretty, but they are rarely boring, because, you know, we all have the truth.  And we are all willing to defend it.

I also love to write.  So here I am.  All I have is this red guitar, three chords and the truth.  All I have is this red guitar.  The rest is up to you…
